I am Mevlana.
When you decorate the home, when you nourish the child,
[then] Your peace occurs a lot. [then you are in peace]
What is meant by 'home,' is your heart path;
What is meant by 'child,' is your hal on the path of heart.

We said, “Eyvallah,” to all of you,
In your hal, we saw appropriate path.
We entered hearts with torch in our hand,
We ignited the oil lamps in each heart.
We became witness to your interrogation [about you] with the one that flies, with the one who passes. [Since your heart started to burn [with love of God], we will be witness on your behalf during your interrogation at migration time. During that interrogation all beings will be asked about you]

Do not seek beyond what is seen,
Do not comb the head [that is] without hair. [seeking beyond what is seen, is like combing a head that is without hair]

Our path is drawn
With the order [command] that came from The Lofty One.
On our path, duty is given to each traveler.
Let my Allah be pleased with the one who says, “Thank YOU.”
HE does not give duty to HIS human whom HE does not see as worthy.
In the one whom HE gives [duty], HE is not mistaken.
The caldron that is set up in the meydan,
Does not overflow;
Yet,
It never ends even if the [whole] universe comes.


There is no passage that we did not cross.
No faulty path was given to HIS human.
Because
We knew [and] we gave, we saw [and] we loved, we found [and] we wrapped [hugged].
We got free of fault on the day we migrated.
Our migration day became festival,
We became seer of The Reality,
We presented 'ayran' to the heart that was burning. [ayran=airan, a drink made of yogurt and water]

The moment in which you get free of fault,
Each event that you admire
Finds its beauty in the eye of human.
Do not look for measure in beauty,
Do not say, “The beauty of the tree is in its flower.”
Flower gives its own beauty to the tree.
[however,] Tree’s beauty is in its specialty:
If the tree does not give, flower does not get color.
If the tree does not give, flower does not become fruit.
If the tree does not give, it [fruit] does not [ripen and] come to human’s hand.
[on the other hand,] It [fruit tree] does not cover your roof. [hence, appreciate also the fruitless tree that you use for [the construction of] your roof...]
For that [reason], look for beauty
Not in ornament,
But in specialty so that
When it stays away from ornament, you do not say, “Ugly.”
That is the biggest mistake.

If paths change direction,
Does human get confused about the place where he/she goes to?

We opened the meydan,
All of us, we embraced one another.
Let my Allah be pleased with all of you.
What do we expect from meydan?
I gave to word, I entered the essence.
What is meydan?
[meydan is:]
The essence of the fruit, the eye of the bug, the dust of the universe.
It is always boiled there
As well as one fuses with one another there.
When coming to meydan,
You get free of wanting,
You separate from the body.
“Let me give as much as I can give,
Let me present as much as I can spread,” you say.
What is it that you present, you give?
The one that you took/take from HIM.
This is “meydan.”
“Dust of the universe,” is said, it is asked.
In the dust of the universe, there is the essence of the flower,
Not the dust that covers the eye…

It is known that the day[‘s teaching] is [on] appropriate path.
Word is given to my Yunus.
I am Yunus, I came.
I spread out the fish in the basket,
I took the basket in hand.
On the way, I gave [the fish] to cat.
If you say, “Why?”
Cat wished [for the fish] more than I did, that is why.

It is okay if word is not said about what happened.
However, events knead human.

Skilled hands spin the wool of the sheep;
In unripe [unskilled] hand, it becomes cord only, it looses its wooliness.

If you take the swan from lake to ocean, it stays as amazed [it is extremely amazed]. [ocean==God]
Yet, it knows itself as the sultan of the lake.
If you say, “Why?”
“Being Sultan” is special to God.
Ocean accepts neither sultan nor conqueror.
Each sultan who comes there, is lost in the ocean.
[either] He [sultan] becomes [one] heart with the ocean,
[or the ocean] Does not swallow [him, but], grinds [him].
The bed of the ocean is sand.

The Reality is not hidden in the image that is not real.

Keramet is not expected in each event. [keramet= 1. miracle worked by God through a person. 2. the God-given power of working miracles.]

In order to know your humanity,
It is necessary that you see your body,
That you learn IT [HIM]. [i.e. human’s body belongs to HIM/is HIM]
If you do not seek the fruit, you can not learn the tree.
Events force you to seek.
For that [reason], I say, “Each event is for good deed.”
You try to burn the wood that does not burn;
You do not say, “Let me throw [it].”
'To seek' is that.

To sit, is to wait for the one that will come.
Yet, before the one that will come, there is hal.
At the place where hal stops,
The one that will come, is seen as dark.
Because there is no stopping.

I am Mevlana, I came.


The moment in which we remember meydan, it happens as you think.
The one that/who exists comes from HIM,
The one that/who exists is the one whom HE said to: “Be!”

Let us know
Not to draw your path
But to see all humans in the one that is[/is being] drawn.

“In the generation
That I took because of my temperament,
That I mixed with delight,
That I embraced saying, 'My duty,'
There is the work of him [Prophet Mohammad],” you say.
Of course there is.
In his work [in the work of Prophet Mohammad], there is the command of my Allah.
In the step that he takes, in the food that he presents,
There is help of HIM.
If you say, “Who is HIM[/him]?”
There is each pir
Who has become One in HIM,
Who has become sand in blood.
It does not come from him or me only,
Because “asure” is the food of our Master Prophet [Mohammad]. [asure (pronunciation:  ashuree)=pudding made with various cereals, sugar, and raisins]
Each pir is path-fellow of him.
In the caldron that boils, there is work [effort] of all of them.
Because
For all of them, there is intercession of their Prophet.

You find yourself in each event that you [try to] avoid.
For that [reason], to [try to] avoid is irrelevant.
Let it not be misinterpreted:
Let one not say,
“Does one put his/her foot in mud,
Does one dive [into it] while seeing [it] clearly?” [does one step in the mud knowingly?]
I said:
“What is it that the eye takes,
What is it that the ear gives?”
[what I mean is this:]
Do not run away from the one that your eye does not see,
Do not pass [give up] the one that your ear does not take.
Do not leave your logic alone with your ego.
Do not fall in sorrow [don't worry] saying,
“Is the news that will come, good deed or bad?”


One seeks not “meyhane,” but the cupbearer. [meyhane=bar/restaurant like public place in 14th century where wine was served]
“I am in meyhane, I burned,
I am enclosed within four walls,” he/she says.
Do not forget: the dome is empty,
Getting out of the dome is nice.
Do not see as dark, do not say four [walls], do not erase the wall.
Because the one who opens, knows the one who passes,
Gives way to the one who will pass.
It is the state of “hal” in the moment of awakening. [hal==to find oneself in water, air, sand, soil, tree, leaf…]
“Do not erase The Reality, do not seek the one that does not exist, do not return while going,
Do not say, “What will happen?” he said,
Hazrat Selami gave his hand.

Goodbye.
Lailaheillallah Muhammedur Resulullah. [Allah is The only One to be worshiped, and Mohammad is HIS Representative.]

I am Mevlana.
We laughed [smiled] at the faces, we came with greetings,
We were filled with HIS LIGHT.
Our nest is for the ones who come, [nest=Mevlana’s/Garib’s congregation]
For the ones who say, “My Allah, Your path.”
We all became one,
We tied our nest to hearts.

In writing [in destiny], there is neither the one that is changed
Nor the one that is given up.
Fruit is the view of the giving, [fruit is the visible part of Allah’s giving]
Root is the essence of the giving.
However, one considers as important not the root, but the fruit.
Typesetter’s mistake is not recorded in the giving,
Because it does not pass from hand to hand [like the fruit];
[the giving of Allah:] It only comes from essence, takes from essence, stays in essence. [like in the example of root/fruit]
“What is typesetter’s mistake?” is said,
The writing that is in destiny, is tied to “accident” like that.
Yeast is kneaded, it is flawless.
[however,] When you put [it] in the oven, if you can not adjust the fire,
Either it stays as dough, or it is over roasted.
You interpret this as “accident.”
Indeed, it is the line [of destiny].
The place at which the line is untied, is the place where existence [on earth] ends.
[? The place at which the line is untied, is the place where [spiritual] maturation ends. ?]
[? The place at which the line is untied, is the place where the event ends. ?]
For that [reason], I said that there is no typesetter’s mistake.
Because there is flawlessness
And that is my Allah’s Attribute.
Whether it blows or not, there is wind.
[The above verses may be better understood under the light of the following information: in an individual’s destiny some milestones like human’s birth, death, and marriage[s] are predetermined. Human traces the line between these milestones him/herself, in other words, human draws the line of destiny by his/her own intentions. Since the body belongs to Allah, HE knows human's intention while he/she is still thinking about it. HE designs and creates the events according to the intention/decision of each human, in every moment...]

Earth is narrow for soft human.
If you say, “Why?”
Soft human carries each load on his/her back,
Does not share [it] with someone else.
He/she finds earth as narrow, because his/her after earth life is very wide.

I sought in cloud, I asked from the wind,
I raked the sand, I found in water.
I learned about the ship, I watched faithful human.
“My Allah,” I said, I longed [for].
In [while] longing, I found HIS Essence.
If you seek, you find, if you watch, you see.
You take with [according to] your intention.

Do not ask [about] the path that you did not pass,
Do not see beyond the wall.

Deep lover Yunus wishes for word.
“We took from Tabduk, we bowed to HIM. [Tabduk=mursheed of Yunus]
We were ground in his dervish lodge, [we were crushed into powder in his dervish lodge]
We were winnowed in HIS wind,” he said,
My Yunus came.
Is each one who says, “I am Yunus,” me?
Is each one who wishes for path, “ken”?
Ken: the person who left the saddlebag,
Who took the path [who started the journey] with cardigan and light shoes.
If you say, “[how about] You, Yunus?”
I left the cardigan as well as the light shoes,
We fell on the path bare foot, bare body. [I took the path/I hit the road/I started the journey bare foot, bare body]
We crossed one wall, we reached the wooden bridge.
We said, “Mud,” we got mixed up in [it],
We entered the water, we got used to [it].
In mud, we loved the mud, we praised it.
We entered the water, we got purified.
Is there any earth dirt that water does not purify?

In open giving, there is no closed vision.
The one who is pir, does not know another [One],
He/she does not erase the earth before becoming pir.

If I say, “Come and see like me,”
I call because I know you, me.
I rejoice because I find myself in me, [and] me in HIM.

Do not look for tarikat, do not interpret [it]. [tarikat= 1. tariqa, tariqat, Sufi path. 2. tariqa, tarekat, dervish order, dervish fraternity.]
All of them are path of Allah.
Worship is asked.
If worship ended with five times “namaz,” and fasting [namaz==praying while prostrating]
Earth’s hour would get shorter.
Worship is [in] human’s each moment, each minute:
The flower that you see,
The bug that you love,
The moment in which you say, “From HIM,”
[it] Is your “tesbih.” [tesbih=remembering Allah while praising HIM]
The wind that blows, the torrent that overflows [floods]
The moment in which you say, “From HIM,”       
[it] Is your “ruku.” [ruku=1. to bend forward in the divine presence, 2. bowing the head and at the same time putting the palms of one's hands on one's knees (done as a part of the namaz). [namaz=praying while prostrating]]
HE is The Whole of the universe.
[in the universe:]
The One That exists, is HIS Attribute.
The wind that blows, the torrent that overflows [floods] are HIS “Celal,” [celal= 1. glory, majesty (of God). 2. wrath, rage (of God).]
Burning sun is HIS 'Cemal.' [cemal=beauty, face beauty]
Earth is HIS Image.
Do not forget, at the place where the Image ends, The Reality starts.
The border is the place where you stand.
You climb [the spiritual] ladder, each step is one border.

Can you count the sand that you fill in your armful?
Can you peel the shell of the earth?
Yet, sand is grain  
As well as earth is shell.         
The sand that you take in your armful is according to your [spiritual] measure,
Border is drawn there.
“One armful of sand,” is said.
However, you empty [it] and fill [it] again.
The one that changes is the place, not the essence [the soul].
The sand that is in the universe does neither decrease nor increase,
It only changes place.

Do not wander around “meyhane,” [meyhane=bar/restaurant like public place in 14th century where wine was served]
Do not ask "the new one" for the wine. [aged wine is preferred]
Do not say, “How about if I do not like, how about if cupbearer does not sell.”
I said [to you], “No mistake occurs in line [in destiny],”
I gave at the beginning of my word.
Meyhane does not take [in] the fruit, does not let one go as sober.
The essence of the fruit enters the meyhane.
“Let me enter,” you say, [yet] you avoid your step.
What you call meyhane, is the one that makes drunk;
The one that you enter, is not [real] meyhane.
[because] When you enter there, neither time nor your mind is left.
[however, the one that we are talking about,]
The one that you seek, is the one that will erase you.
There is no mistake in your deep love,
Mistake is in not finding your example [right guide].
If you make many doors wear away, if you scrabble many paths, [if you knock on many doors, if you seek on many paths]
You can not find what you seek.
[because] You asked for The Meaning, [yet] you waited for the matter.
To be ready is to wait, is to add path to path,
[is to wait] Neither from that nor from this, but from Darling.


If Mevlana said, he said by the order [command] of The Lofty One.
Whom did Yunus get permission from?
We put the pigeon in the nest,
We wished for its day, we asked.
“We gave the permission to Hazrat Omar,” is said.

The one who stays away from forbidden tongue [language] [the one who does not break heart with his/her words]
Is the one who finds the earth on flatness. [his/her path is without stones]
Your earth becomes flat, turns to past day [your days pass smoothly],
Counts the lambs that find the pasture. [? The one who finds the pasture counts the lambs ?]
Let jugs be filled [with our spiritual water], let hearts drink as much as they wish.

Let subjects be closed, let door open to new subject.

Goodbye.

19 January 1973

I am Mevlana.
Ready path is for HIS human who is worthy.
Because
Path is not human’s, human is path’s,
Path is ready for each human, in each moment.
When human is ready, [then] our hearts are one.
Our day is equal to the cradle of mature roses.
Our aim is not to separate, it is equal to all [humans]. [our aim is to make all humans come together]

Do not say, “We became guest, we came.”
We are together in each moment.

We saw the moon,
We knew our dark night with Light. [our night was in Light]
[Previous and following verses may be better understood under the light of the following information: during sleep, spirit of the human who has permission from Allah, meets with other spirits of the same level and/or his/her saint. Human’s spiritual education continues during these meeting that take place in Light…] [sun == Prophet Mohammad; moon==Hazrat Ali; star==saint]

We looked at the sun, we said The Light of the universe.
We burned in HIS Light,
We had HIS Light as much as we wanted.
In burned [sun tan] skin, we found suffering, pleasure.
When knowing the measure of each event,
Even when you put deep love on measure [on scale], it burns, it does not over roast.

It is seen that the water reaches the bridge that is said about, “We did not cross.”
[the water reaches even the bridge that was not crossed before]
However,
Neither does the bridge become complainer about the water,
Nor does the water [become complainer] about the bridge.
The one who becomes complainer about even this one, is human.

Before giving [the test of] the carved design, before passing the curtain,
Path does not become convenient.
I said [about] The Meaning.
If you say,
“How do we give the carved design,
How do we stretch the curtain?”
Carved design is
'To embroider the one that is real, in human.' [chiseling human by means of [other] humans...]
Curtain is:
"To cover the one that does not come nicely to the eye.'
If you say, “What is the one that does not come nicely to the eye?”
It is the one that does not conform to the vision of the human,
Not the one that is bad.
If the front of your window is your neighbor’s home,
It is necessary that you stretch curtain on your window. [it is necessary that you install window curtain]
My Yunus says,
“My heart [is] half naked, my tongue [is] miserable:
Whatever I said, I said because of HIS deep love,
Whatever I said, I said because of your love.
The one who watched me, the one who said word about what I am,
Should he/she not [was he/she not supposed to] close his/her curtain?
My deep love burns me,
The one whose window is open, looks at me.
If he/she gave up looking at me, if he/she found him/herself,
Was it not better? [would it not be better?]” he says.
[instead of watching me, would it not be better for him/her to come to his/her senses?]
The one that I say, is not home’s window:
Open your heart window to HAK only,
Not to the love of your mistress [lover].
If my Yunus loved, he loved all, altogether,
In love, he found the deep love,
Because love is the bud of the deep love.
Nevertheless, both love and deep love are nourished from the same root.
Root: your heart.
The one that is planted in your garden is rose sapling.
The more water you give, its yield occurs beautifully.
However,
Excessive water makes its sapling decay too.
Soft soil’s sapling is soft too,
It takes its water moderately.

To underestimate one letter
Is to separate one book from its order.

There may be mistake in “you, me/I, us.”
However,
The one that is written in HIS name stays flawless.

No mistake occurs in effort,
Mistake is in intention only.
Even the caravansary that you call, “Dilapidated [outdated],”
Does it not shelter you?

[the fact that] You read in Mesnevi,
[that] You glanced at the event of my day, is known by us.
Let my Allah be pleased.
You wished for the sun,
You said, “My Allah, burn me in your sun,” is also known by us.
All of you are in the Light of HIS sun,
In the presence of the ocean. [sun==Prophet Mohammad; ocean==God]
Stay without worry.

To know to come to one’s senses:


[“to know to come to one’s senses” means that:]
It is necessary
To know [that] the one that happened [is from HIM], [to know that Allah creates all events]
To conform to the one that happens,
To say, “Eyvallah,” to the one that will happen.
The one that happened is closed.
The one that happens, is [actually] happening, it wraps all [humans].
Since it wraps all [humans], [then] each human burns for it. [each human is affected by it]
If he/she does not conform, he/she keeps on turning and turning
Until he/she learns to conform.
To say, “Eyvallah," to the one that will come
Is to prepare his/her heart to welcome each event nicely.
The one who is believer knows, he/she conforms to events.
The one who does not conform, the one who says, “I straighten [it/him/her] up,”
Each convenient path event: he/she sees it in front of him, with knot.

I am Yunus, I came.
I found nicely [I am welcomed], I brought greetings.
Niyazi says,
Fortress is conquered with heart,
Power stays in arm, [power is not used]
Migration finds the path. [higher spiritual level is obtained at migration time]
Each path takes to the shore [of the ocean]. [ocean==God]
I am at your [? HIS ?] shore as well as I wait in your fortress.

I am Yunus.
I tied my path to my day.
On my day, I hit the trunk with ax.
I sought the tongue of the trunk, I waited that it gave sound.
I heard the sound in my heart.
“Yunus, you knocked over the dry trunk,
You turned the trunk into branch,
You neither gave its life, nor took [it],” [the sound] it said.
It made me reunited with peace. [it gave me peace]
Nourish the life with life,
Decorate the life with life.

I am Mevlana,
We loaded [put] the flour in [a] sack,
We tied the sack to [a] donkey. [we loaded the sack on a donkey]
“Go to road,” we said [to donkey], we hit the road.
Let us make flour, dough, [let us make dough from the flour]
Let us go up to it, let us knead [it].
Let us distribute loaf [of bread] to the one who has God-given share.
Let us remember all [humans] goodly.

Goodbye.
